To Whom It May Concern,

I have known and worked with Andrea Cambron for the last two school years, both in my capacity as faculty advisor for Pierson High School´s Art/Literary Magazine, Singularity, and s the school´s Library/Media Specialist. Andrea contributed to the last two issues of Singularity and participated in last year´s annual writing workshop. In addition, she often came to me for research assistance in preparing assignments and papers.

I will speak of Andrea in three arenas – as a writer, as a student, and as a person. These are the three parts of her I was privileged to see in our time together.
As a writer, Andrea demonstrated great sensitivity and insight, this was true even in the earliest writing she showed to me, when she was still struggling to become fluent in English. I found her work especially compelling and unique in that if often expressed very sophisticated ideas using the most simple and straightforward language. There was a sense of innocence to both her prose and poetry that lent it great honesty. Andrea was also extremely gratifying to work with; she was eager to discuss any aspect of her work with candor and open-mindedness, dedicated to improving her skills, and always willing to devote time to her revision process. Her contributions to our magazine were always wonderful.
As a student, Andrea exemplified everything a teacher could desire – she was bright, prepared, eager to share her thoughts, and respectful of the views of others. She was an enthusiastic participant in last year´s Short Fiction Writing Workshop. This workshop required students to read their own work aloud for comment and to comment on the work of others. I found Andrea courageous, attentive, and supportive as a group member. She could always be depended upon to keep the dialogue moving in a positive manner.

In assisting her in my capacity as a librarian I found Andrea to have a supple, questioning mind and thoughtful habit of work.
As a person, I would describe Andrea with the following words: Intelligent, creative, compassionate, dignified, and optimistic. We often had chats about reading, writing, and life in general, and during these conversations I was often struck by her maturity, humility and humanity. In observing her interactions with other students I was always impressed with her caring and good-heartededness. In all the time I worked with her, I never heard Andrea say a single thing that was either self-serving or unkind.

It is a pleasure to write this recommendation for Andrea. I am happy to know she is planning to continue her education. I believe she will be successful at anything she decides to pursue and will bring light into the lives of those around her no matter where she finds herself. I heartly endorse her for entry into any institution or program. She is a magnificent young woman.
