Carta de Janet Grossman

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages for the Sag Harbor School District. From June 1997 to June 1999 when she graduated from Pierson High School, I had Andrea Cambrón as student.

When Andrea first arrived, she spoke very little English although she could understand quite a bit of spoken English and could read fairly well. During her years at Pierson, she made rapid progress enabling her to be ina regular senior English class. She also was involved in a theater class where she became good friends with native speakers of English her age who respected her ideas and recognized her as a talented and thoughtful person.

Through the theater class, Andrea became involved in the Bay Street Theater Young Playwrights Festival. This theater, located in Sag Harbor, was started by actress Julie Andrew´s daughter and her husband. The festival included students from various school districts on the East End of Long Island who were selected by English and drama teachers. Andrea wrote a play which was produced at Bay Street Theater with students from Pierson acting from her script. The play was very well received; indeed, many people thought it was the most creative and interesting presentation. The play was later published in Pierson´s Literary Magazine, Singularity.

I believe that Andrea is a very talented and creative writer. She has made great progress in the English language and I will be very pleased if she continues to study English at the college/university level. I definitely think Andrea should continue her education. I highly recommend her as student.

Very truly yours,

Janet Grossman
